How is it going? I hope you’re having a good day :D
I decided to show my Dad my Tumblr, so he should read this post!
Dad, look at the previous page. There’s a huge post I made that I think you’ll want to read!
Now I just have to show it to my Mom and I’ll be set.
Anyways, it has certainly been quite a long time since I last made a post! There are a number of different things that have been happening to me in the last 6 days.
On Friday, I just went volunteering again. What was noteworthy was that Sunny came along with us, and Denny and Bryan were both gone! So me and Joshua got to show him around.
Unfortunately, Bryan is going to be out of town for the rest of the summer and won’t be able to volunteer. Sunny is kind of like his replacement! Denny went out of town this day too, so she didn’t come.
Speaking of which, I haven’t gone at all during the last 6 days, because I’ve been busy doing other important things, with the exception of Tuesday!
Like the day right after, Saturday, I went over to Kim’s Tea House to have a Speech and Debate meeting with the other officers. We managed to figure out a lot of things, and now I have to go sponsor-hunting and come up with as many fundraising ideas as I can. TALLY HO!
The only thing that something grips me is that I have to split the ideas I have between the Speech team and the Class of 2012. It’s kind of annoying, because I don’t want to have to put a higher focus on one over the other! It just means I have to come up with x2 as many ideas and x2 as many sponsors!
Sunday was a really cool day! Me and Jovaughn got together at 3:00 and walked over to Nancy’s house. We wanted to go over there to rough her up a bit and tell her to make a Facebook (WHICH SHE FINALLY DID)
Instead, I figured none of us 3 were really busy for the rest of the day and so should go to my house to play video games, which we did.
It was also there that we sat her down to MAKE THE BLASTED FACEBOOK ALREADY. Sheez, we’ve been trying to convince her since way back in the school year!
Killed some nazi zombies, played some Mario Bros Wii, ate ramen and drank chocolate milk, played Super Smash Bros Brawl, and got to show around some of the stuff I had around the house. It was a fun time full of lots of nonsense and silly stuff!
We also walked over to Jovaughn’s house. Nancy scraped her knee though, so I had to help support her there. It’s actually a lot harder then I thought it would be, and I was exhausted by the time we got there! Though on the bright side, Jovaughn gave me a broken violin he had kept! I also drove my car from my aunt’s house over to mine, and officially got my car keys when my Mom came home that day. It only sucks that I now have to always keep my wallet in my pocket, or risk accidentally forgetting the license at home!
On Monday, I headed over to the DPS at around 1:00 with my Mom to turn in the forms I needed in order to schedule the road test. We finally managed to get that out of the way, and it was scheduled to take place just today actually!
Later on in the night, I also watched an episode of a Taiwanese drama with Jeri! How silly! This is really bad though, since I’m already busy with a bunch of other stuff, and because it always happens really really late at night!
But that is okay!
On Tuesday, I just stayed at home, even though nothing important was going on. The events of the past couple of days had really tuckered me out, and I wanted to be well-rested and relaxed for my road test today.
Which of course brings us up to today: i went to the DPs and took the road test.
I was so good that they decided to give me 6 licenses and the key to the company’s Lamborghini! So awesome.
Except not really.
I ended up failing, and now I have to go back again on Friday. I’m not going to screw up this time though! I’ve got too much of a reason to get that thing to fail the same test twice in a row!
My phone also stopped turning on, basically making it useless. So I it apart with my bare hands.
IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!
Which of course solved nothing. So now I have to use my old busted up cracked screen stained bruised up dented battery scratched white lined 6-year-old phone that can’t even tell time correctly (it says it’s 1:16 PM when it’s 5:01 AM!)
It would be so funny if I got an extra new phone as a replacement.
Anyways, that’s all the exciting things for now! If Megan isn’t being lame, then I’ll get to do something tomorrow as well!
Girls aren't going to talk to you first. It’s a girl thing. We don’t like starting the conversation because we like to feel like you want to talk to us. We like to feel like the wait was worth something. We like feeling like you’ve waited for us like we’ve waited for you. But the number one reason we hate talking first is because we hate to seem needy or clingy. That’s why we’re scared. Cause to us, being needy and obsessive just pushes guys away. And no girl wants that.
Ah, I like to keep a record of all the crazy shenanigans that take place inside of my life. Just documenting the days helps me remember all the best times.
At the end of the summer, I’m going to make an accomplishment list that says all the great stuff and events that happened! This has been the most busy and exciting summer yet!
On Saturday, I went over to Jenny Nguyen’s house so that me, her, and Tina could go and volunteer at the House of Amos with Christian. Some cards and a car ride later, and we were over there in an air-conditioned building.
The House of Amos is apparently a place where very poor and families-in-need come to in order to get free food to help feed themselves and their residents. The food is laid out in a kind of line, and they come around with boxes or bags and we just fill it up as they go along.
And within 30 minutes, I was outside in 100 degree weather helping unload a truck and lifting people’s food to their cars. I was actually doing that for pretty much the entire time. It was tiring, even for my normally durable endurance, and it was the first time I ever felt like I needed to drink water at the risk of getting a heat stroke.
It was interesting lifting that stuff back to people’s cars. Poor people look a bit different from the stereotypical stuff you see on TV and movies and literature and stuff. Or rather, these did. They were decently dressed. I only wished that most of their meal wasn’t comprised of bananas, instead of actual sustenance.
After that, we all headed off to… aplacewhichnameIhavecompletelyforgotten. And within that place, we went into a place called FIT. It was… interesting, to say th eleast. It was also where Christian bowed down to Jenny’s almighty power D:
Then we ate some hot pot, graciously entirely paid by Christian! It was the first time I’ve ever had it, so digging around for the meaty bits was kind of fun and we had a good time in there!
Then when we went into the supermarket, we started playing cards on the furniture. And then I saw Megan! The most odd place to find someone, especially since we both lived 20 minutes away from the place! She was just looking through vases with her parents.
And afterward, our group of 4 headed off to Jenny’s House to share secrets, look through the yearbook, play cards, and look through photos! And when my Dad finally picked me up from there at 8:00, I was absolutely pooped. He took me out to eat some deli at Which Wich, and then to my brother’s house so I could play video games! It was a really busy and fun day. I also don’t think many juniors hang out with freshmen who they just met at summer school o_o
On Monday, I just played video games. I would have gone to the DPS, but it took too long for me and my mom to get the forms together for heading over there, and so we just scheduled that for this Monday instead. GRAR. I want to get my license already!
Tuesday and Wednesday I ended up volunteering. These days have been low-intensity, and for most of the time the 4 of us just messed around inside of the miniature movie theater while waiting for jobs to be given. The manager lady continues to be extra nice to all of us, and makes me feel glad I got a chance to volunteer here! We’ve gone through tons of shenanigans, and at this point Denny has been poked, prodded, molested, lifted, bit, licked, restrained, and banged against a wall multiple times.
Also, Thao came for a surprise visit on Tuesday and got to mess around with us for a little bit!
And all 4 of us got volunteer badges at the request of the old ladies during a game of BINGO. The oldies seem to really like us all a lot and enjoy us being there! All of us just got into a discussion about schools and delinquency before the game began, and they seem to get what we mean when we say some people really just don’t seem to want ato learn or care.
One of the more interesting things is that for the past 2 days, I’ve also gone into the Kinsington to help them, except this time it was a bit better.
Unlike the other time where I was helping them solve table puzzles, this time we were playing balloon tennis. The people would make a circle, grab plastic rackets, and just hit around the ball, and so would the rest of us. It was a lot of fun, and actually tiring even though it was just a balloon! Some of them are really active with the game and are pretty intense players, while others don’t even care even if the balloon hits their faces.
That being said, there were still some things that creeped me out. The man in the wheelchair I was standing next to was always breathing heavily and making an animalistic noise. The ones who weren’t playing often looked dead, tired, and sad all at the same time as they were just sitting in a chair or trying to solve table puzzles. It was very chilling.
Oh, Juan joined us for the game both times. He doesn’t like using the racket; he prefers to sit down and just kick the balloon around. He was the only one doing that.
Then I put up my racket and started kicking the balloon also.
Or at least lately I have been working with people who are!
I’ve been so exhausted and busy busy busy. I’ve taken up volunteering at this old people’s place, and it’s been an interesting 3 days so far, to say the least!
It’s aright across from the West Houston Medical Hospital, and we’ve been going from 10 AM and working until 5 PM every day so far.
On Wednesday, we went to volunteer and at first we were kind of worried because Denny had told us that we didn’t need to fill out any paperwork, but we ended up having to.
Until Denny showed up and started cussing out the desk lady until she let us volunteer!
Except not really; Denny talked with one of the managers and I was good!
My brother, Joshua, and my cousin, Bryan, joined me and Denny for these couple of days too, getting in their volunteering hours.
We were assigned to do various things on the first day like cleaning up tables, leading the fitness program, making popcorn, and fixing menus on tables.
But more importantly then that, the entire time after that was taken up because we were helping one of the old ladies, Jennanne, move from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor.
It was kind of sad; she had lived in that room for 3 years, and was kind of heartbroken at the prospect of having to go to a completely new room! Still, we got right to work.
There was a lot of stuff to move: medicine, cups, matress, antique holycrudthisisheavy bedframe, TV, computer, desks, and even a couch, but all 4 of us managed to get everything done in time, with some time to spare! The manager lady was impressed with our work, and bought us some fried chicken and gave us free ice cream to thank us!
Even better, she is very lax with volunteer hours. VERY LAX. So I’ve already gotten almost all of my hours out of the way!
Jennanne was very nice to us and kept on thanking us for our job. She also has something called William’s Syndrome (Wiki that Jay fans!). The oldest lady in Texas diagnosed with it no less! She’s a really cool lady, and this also means I know another person who has a syndrome now!
And after all this craziness, the day was topped off with my Dad taking all 4 of us to go see Despicable Me. OH YEAH!! (pelvic thrust pelvic thrust). Practically knocked out by the time I finally made it home!
We volunteered for Thursday and Friday as well, and they were much easier days! We had a lot of free time, and we’ve been talking a lot with some of the other oldies in the building. They have such interesting stories! This one lady was a Military Police officer for 30 years! That’s pretty crazy! She sure didn’t look like it, with her pinky frilly pants that go up past her belly button!
We also played BINGO and have just been having a cool time with these guys. They’re all coolbeans, even if they sometimes get a little grumpy or forgetful!
The 4 of us play games and joke around when we’re not working, which is fairly often. Lax hours + not that much work + cool friends/family + cool old people = massive success.
The only thing that really irks me about the building is… The Kensington.
It is… creepy. And depressing. And when I think too much about it, I get kind of sad.
The Kensington is just the fancy name given to the Memory Unit.
And as the name implies, that’s where they put everyone who has severe dementia.
Me and my brother were only in there for 30 minutes and it still managed to leave an impression on me.
After entering it, the door locks behind you. None of the residents inside are allowed to leave without asking the lady to use the key, if they even know how to do that.
When you walk up to the table, you realize one thing about the Memory Unit: staring. Everyone is always staring, with emotionless faces and drooping eyes, scarcely blinking for anything.
When we sat down, and said hello, only one of them responded. The rest, just stared.
The lady brought a man up to me, Juan, for me to work with. And it seems that Juan has trouble walking, and doing anything really, because he moves at about 10 feet per minute, and took 2 minutes just to sit down (while having help). He doesn’t have a walker, cane, or wheelchair.
I passed a coloring drawing over to Juan for him to start on. After staring at it for a few minutes, he moved with his slow shaky motions, looking like he could really just die right there, and pushed it away very gently, barely shaking his head with his skinny eyes.
I passed him a cut-and-paste puzzle. He did the same thing.
Finally, I gave him a jigsaw puzzle and pieced it together to show him what it looks like, and then broke it up and tried to get him to start on it.
He just stared.
And normally, you would think that it’s fine, because you know, jigsaw puzzles aren’t always easy.
But this one was only 12 pieces.
And he tried to piece it together, but he had too much trouble, and then pushed it away very slowly.
He also asked some questions in Spanish to me and my brother. Questions that made no sense.
"Como se calleda la caveza?"
For you non-native Spanish speakers, that means “how did the head fall”
I think he thought that me and Joshua were going to be joining the rest of them in their staring. Their soul-sucking staring.
He also asked us something about crossing a river. I don’t think he knew why.
When suppertime began, I stuck out my hand for Juan to shake. He stared at it.
I used my other hand to give an example of a handshake and then put my hand out again. He slowly moved his hand and grabbed it, so limply I might as well have been holding it myself. The shake lasted a while, since he only let go when I let go.
And me and my brother got the key, and finally got out.
So it really was creepy. And that’s saying something, since I’m normally very emotionless.
Guys, if there’s one thing to remember from all this, it is this:
He may not have been able to solve a puzzle, or move very fast, or say hello, or ask rational questions, or answer rational questions, or even do much else besides staring
But when he came up to the table, and I smiled at him…
Not a whole lot has happened since my last post! Just a bunch of random things! Like this little gem from a conversation me and Tracey had!
aquadragonad: It is funny because it is so self-glamorizing. Tracey Vo: oh -_- aquadragonad: Yeah. Tracey Vo: k aquadragonad: Alrighty then. Tracey Vo: lol aquadragonad: Glad we agreed. Tracey Vo: lolok aquadragonad: Cool. Tracey Vo: yeaa aquadragonad: Sweet. Tracey Vo: awkward aquadragonad: Neat.
I also came to the realization that I talk to a lot more girls then guys! A LOT MORE. It borders on weird is how many! I wonder why that has a tendency to happen!
Definitely going to the DPS on Monday. FINALLY. I just want my license already, because there are so many plans and things that I want to be able to do, among them being getting my summer reading books!
Also, I’m going to try volunteering at a retirement home on Wednesday, and a couple of other days too with Denny and co.! Brother and cousin probably tagging along also!
Also going to volunteer for food packing on Saturday hopefully with Jenny!
Getting my volunteer hours in as quick as I can. I took it to heart when Mrs. Curry told that story and suggested 30 hours per year as a minimum!
So Saturday was pretty sweet! My Dad came to pick me and my brother up and me, him, and my other okay that’s it. I’m tired of using “other brother” and “brother” as names.
Brother = Joshua
Other brother = Henry
So me, Henry, Joshua, and Daddy went out to the Waffle House to go and eat some breakfast! Then we went over to Henry’s place to play Call of Duty for a bit, and at around 5:00 my Dad dropped me off at Thao’s house for her birthday party! We got lost on the way there, and her Dad had to drive out and show us the way D:
But that’s quite alright! There were a lot of people there, many of who I knew, and we all just ate, made lots of crazy jokes (EVERY PERSON THERE WAS PERVERTED, ESPECIALLY DENNY), and played DDR. It was a pretty fun time, and I got to give “birthday licks” to the birthday girl, if ice can be used as part of birthday licks!
Everyone was soooooo perverted though. The party was like one long and hard sexual innuendo from beginning to end. You couldn’t even be in a room alone with anyone without someone commenting on suggestive themes T_T
Then my Dad picked me up and we dropped Denny off, and then me, Henry, Joshua, and Daddy went to Chilis. I was hoping I could have tasted the mushrooms more in the Swiss-mushroom burger! I like mushrooms a lot! Oh well!
Then I got home and pretty much collapsed from exhaustion after the long day!
And today my Mom took me and my brother to my cousin (Bryan)’s house to eat some breakfast and for me to practice my driving. Going to the DPS next Monday FOR REALZ this time!
I’m kind of annoyed that I have to wait so long to get my license. I wish my Mom wasn’t so dang busy! But I mean, I’ve been waiting for my license for like, 3 and a half months now. What’s another week right? Right?
Also helped my Mom clean up her workplace today. That place gets so dirty in just one day! The power of needles, thread, and lots of work and mess!
Church gives me a lot of time to think about plans and the girl I like. Some adjustments are going to be needed for a lot of them to function right!
Anyways, I’m just listening to some music right now. Insurance company should be coming by tomorrow. Hopefully their result is favorable!
So I managed to achieve even more accomplishments to put on top of the ones from Wednesday!
On Thursday, following when I went to get to the bus and stuff, I managed to continue teaching the debaters about LD and getting them ready for everything. We also got a chance to chill out in there instead of listening to a bunch of boring Congress speeches!
I also brought that guide I made to Mrs. Mathis, and she seemed impressed by it! She said she would give it to Train, the StuCo president to see if she would like to use it for Cub Camp! Woo woo!
Then I walked to Kims with a bunch of guys and apparently a guy that Chen accidentally ticked off ?pulled a gun on us? I don’t know if that part is totally true, since only Raymond said he saw it!
And then some guy tried to run us over on the final stretch to Kims!
And then he made a U-turn and tried again!
AND THEN MADE ANOTHER U-TURN AND TRIED AGAIN!
Daniel was so funny with his “HEY COME AND GET ME YOU PUSSY” attitude!
It didn’t help that I originally led the group in a direction cut off due to the marshes that formed from the rain. WOOOOOPS.
Got some tapioca, and then I beat someone at Connect Four! Got a ride back to Kerr.
When I got back, I got a reason to go run all the way back to Kim’s to get someone a tapioca drink.
Perhaps running in the rain was not the best idea I ever had, but at least I made it back in time with the tapioca!
And then I ended off the day with lots of rest.
So lots of good stuff happened and so it was a pretty good time! Friday has been pretty relaxing and I have done absolutely nothing productive all day! Tomorrow, I’m going to go with my Dad again and then go to Thao’s birthday party. Fun fun.
I really don’t have much to say about the girl I like today. Really odd, because I normally do! But that’s okay, I probably say too much about her anyways!
Going to go to sleep now. Going to need some rest if I don’t want to randomly fall asleep during the day!
School is going to begin in 15 minutes. Not that much has occurred since all the firework shenanigans except more summer school work.
I got to get some of the new debaters to do 1.5 practice rounds. It’s about time, since at least I can see that their work and learning is paying off and they are understanding how to debate! I hope the entire batch manages to stay!
In PE, we didn’t even have to lift any weights today. Or at least, not as part of any assignment. Our last job for the MAX OT program was just to pick and choose our favorite weight exercises to figure out how much we could lift in comparison to when we started.
I guess my results show that this stuff really works if you’re willing to put in enough work that one part of your body feels sore every morning: The leg press 1 rep max used to be 270, and now I’m pushing up 400 regularly! My past said 175 was my limit for the squats, but the 235 load I lifted said otherwise! From dumbbells 8 pounds to lifting up 25’s on a regular basis, and from barely lifting up the bar by itself to going twice over its weight! I feel good about it!
The power of competition also shone through while going through the Ab Ripper X program! Me and Jenny Nguyen went into a ‘ab-off’, which is to say, whoever stopped on an exercise first would lose.
Neither of us gave up till the end.
The only reason I lost was because one of the other freshmen distracted me and made me put my feet on the ground. Darn you, Christian! ):< Had to put up her mat as punishment.
To add glory onto accomplishment, a pack of some of the freshmen who I’ve become friends with invited me to come to Kim’s Tea House/Tapioca Square with them! That should be fun, and it’s been a while since I’ve had tapioca anyways.
And then when I got home, I managed to finish a guide to Kerr I’ve been working on for the last couple of days for the incoming freshmen. At 21 pages long, it’s got all the information they will need to make sure they will have a powerful head start! Hopefully Davis lets me print it out for them!
So I managed to find out how far my limits have been stretched, and I completed some other cool stuff too. Awesome.
School is going to begin in about 5 minutes, or at least I have to be outside in 5 to catch my Aunt. I sometimes wonder if the girl I like will give me a chance. I mean, I don’t like myself, and even if the things I hope work out do, it doesn’t mean she will. But there’s no point in wondering about these things. Whatever happens happens I guess, and even if she doesn’t give me a chance, she’ll still be an awesome person and we can be friends, right?
Right? That should make me happy. It ‘should’.
School begins soon. Gotta grab my shoes and run now!
I notice that I make my Tumblr entries at very very late times usually, but that’s okay! This one isn’t going to be that long.
After church on Sunday, I went over to my aunt’s house and got to have a good breakfast and play some video games! Then later on in the day, me and Jovaughn headed off to Megan’s place to play around with fireworks. It was a lot of fun, and we got a free meal too! :D
It’s okay, Jovaughn! Next time, just don’t hold it so tightly!
And even when I got home, it wasn’t over! My brother and cousin had even more fireworks. We are crazy; lighting up 4 fireworks all at the same time and throwing little dynamites everywhere and trying to shoot the lamppost with the hand fireworks.
3 hours of total fireworking; it was a lot of fun!
So today (Monday), I was just handling regular Comm App work. We’re finally getting to the long awaited practice debates! It’s about blasted time. It’s been way too long since I’ve last debated.
I did feel really really lazy in PE today though. I really shouldn’t!
There isn’t much to say on the girl today. I usually have something, but I don’t want to repeat the things I’ve mentioned before! That would just be kind of a waste of time. I do wonder how most of my plans will work out though. I make too many plans for too many people too early!
That’s all for now. Got blogs and a Kerr Guide to write up now!
Today’s title brought to you by Denny. Breakfast all day long!
(No, not Dennys, silly!)
(That was a sexist joke D:)
So despite the title name, there actually hasn’t been a lot of crazy awesome stuff happening lately! Most of my time has been taken up with summer school during the week.
Comm app class has been simple as normal. I’ve been having an interesting time teaching the new people about debate. I also now have a seventh debater! This is very good news!
PE has been more tiring as time has gone on, because I just keep on pushing my limits! It’s like, I can sometimes barely lift it already, but I add on more weight just to satisfy the requirements of the MAX OT program. But it felt good when Coach Diaz told me that I was really lifting a whole lot on my squats!
I wasn’t able to go to the Galleria on Friday though. How unfortunate; I was kind of looking forward to that! But there will be lots of time to make it work anyways so it’s all good!
Today (technically yesterday BUT I DON’T CARE), I got to spend some time with my Dad again! He took me and my brother and my other brother and my other other brother (Gosh I have too many brothers) out to go eat at Red Robins, and I ate a pretty good burger there. Then we went back to my other brother’s house and played video games for a while before later heading off to James Coney Island to eat dinner. Was pretty tired when I got home!
Balto is also pretty darn resilent to getting his paws cleaned. He wanted to come inside because the fireworks were scaring him, but dang does that dog resist when we try to clean his feet! Ouch.
Going to the DPS on Monday! I hope I can finally get my blasted license, or at least schedule to take the driving test! This whole thing is a bunch of utter nonsense. So much so that it’s the ONLY TIME that I am going to ever be able to justify lying about stuff. I really hate lying. Lying is like the curse of so many things, and I really don’t want to do it even though I know I have to for a much greater cause though, and I really don’t like that. I don’t like that one bit.
As I look at the current date, it strikes me that I’ve only liked the girl for 2 months now! It reminds me of the silly circumstances that made me begin to like her.
It was a combination of some random nice things, talking to my friend about how awesome of a person I thought they were, and slowly beginning to think more and more about their personality. Also something else, but I can’t say that because I’m being super vague for a reason!
And then I eventually realized that I had begun to like them, and it surprised me. I wonder if I could do the same process with any other awesome person and see if I can like them, but that’s not an experiment I’m willing to try!
Anyways, I have some stuff to figure out plans for now. Plans plans plans; Jovaughn knows how much I plan! Plans for plans, plans as subplans, and plans for planning. I’ve got a lot of stuff to figure out, and a lot of things to do tomorrow!
