What Does It Mean To Be Autistic?
For me, being autistic means having trouble with understanding and feeling emotions and having to compensate for it by using a Rule-based understanding of the world. It means having to live life on ‘hard mode’ and try to cope with Autistic Breakdowns that ruin me.
For me, being autistic means knowing that Normal People can be extremely nasty and having to hide the autism most of your life, and yet being acutely aware of being ‘different’, emotionally and physically.
For me, being autistic means being obsessed with understanding the world and whatever huge interest comes my way.
Most of all, being autistic means trying to live with a struggle against the Normal. And understanding. Understanding that I am different, that others are different, and that there is nothing wrong with that, and there are a lot of damn people who think otherwise.
